Certificat de Compétences en Langues de l’Enseignement Supérieur

Who can take it?
Français  English

CLES can be taken by students enrolled in any Higher Education course, regardless of their year of study, provided that they are not majoring in the language in which they wish to certify their level.

For example, a student whose major is English is not allowed to take CLES in English, no matter what level  the test he/she is willing to take, but he/she can take a CLES test in Spanish as this language is not his/her specialist subject.

In addition, students can sit for any CLES level at any time of their studies.

For instance, a first year Chemistry student can sit a CLES 2 test in Spanish even if he/she hasn’t previously passed a CLES 1 test in this language. Students are thus not required to hold a CLES 1 certification in a specific language in order to sit the corresponding CLES 2 test, that is in the same language.
